Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Alfahosting GmbH, Edmund-von-Lippmann-Straße 13–15, 06112 Halle (Saale), Germany. When you visit, the host processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested file, browser identifier) in server log files to deliver the website and keep it secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The host deletes these log files automatically after a short time. A data processing agreement with the host is in place (Art. 28 GDPR).

Live data from the Bitcoin blockchain

The homepage shows the latest Bitcoin blocks and the current Bitcoin price. The server of this website fetches this data from mempool.space and caches it briefly. Your browser only connects to stafflinger.com and re-checks the block headers locally; no data about you is passed to mempool.space.

Storage in your browser

The site remembers a few small settings in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), and only if you use the feature in question: whether you picked the day or night view by hand, your high score in the hidden Snake game, and in the archive the sort order and view you chose. This information never leaves your browser and is not sent to me or anyone else. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings. The legal basis is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act), because the storage is strictly necessary for the feature you asked for.

Contact by email

If you write to me, I process your email address and the content of your message in order to reply (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Your message is not passed on to third parties and is deleted once it is no longer needed.

External links

Links to other websites, such as SatSheet, nuck nuck, the App Store, the Bitcoin whitepaper or a block on mempool.space, only open in a new tab when you click them. From then on, that website’s privacy policy applies.

Your rights

You have the rights under Art. 15–21 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection) and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; for me that is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA) in Ansbach. Since I store no personal data about you apart from the host’s short-lived server log files and emails you send me yourself, most of these rights have little to act on. That is intentional.
